The only art form that has evolved to become the mainstay of business and trade in the modern world is ADVERTISING, touching the lives of each and everyone in the society. It is Art of persuasive communication through language and images transmitted through various media. Advertising is an enormous industry in the contemporary world. Working in advertising is a much respected profession. Advertising follows very specific rules within the framework of several constraints and still ensures that all advertising messages are delivered in the right manner to the right people in the best possible ways. It is truly creativity under constraints. 

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE ‘BEHIND THE SCENES’
As the name implies, this National Conference cum Workshop is organized by the Department of Visual Media and Communication of Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi. It is aimed to provide the aspiring creative professionals, who are participating, a sneak peek into what goes on in the making of powerful ground breaking advertising strategy. The two daylong conference will have an assemblage of some of the best professionals in the industry. Participants will be initiated through their interactive lecture sessions in the various aspects of Video production, Cinematography, Audiography and Editing to produce effective advertisements in the audio visual format. The Practical Workshop part of the event will have the creativity Guru, Sri. Sankaran Nampoothiri of Chennai interacting and guiding the participants to come up with creative ideation sketches of strategies under various types of market conditions. 



SPEAKERS AT THE CONFERENCE

1. SRI. K.G. JAYAN, 
An eminent cinematographer in the Malayalam film industry. The man behind the award winning films like Paradesi, Padam Onnu: Oru Vilapam, Pulinjanmam, Susannah, Nottam, Sufi Paranja Katha etc. He has also made over 1000 documantary films.

2. SRI. KRISHNANUNNI
Formerly Chief of Audiography, Chitranjali Studios, Trivandrum, is a three times President’s award winner for audiography for Anantharam, Piravi and Desadanam and Nine State awards from Govt. of Kerala. He has also won the President’s award for the Best Director for Biographical Documentary on Vaidyaratnam P.S. Warrier produced by Kerala State Film Development Corporation in 2005. 

3. SRI. AJITH
The Ace Editor has won National Award for best editing in non-feature category twice.Winner of Kerala state award for best editor in feature film category in 2003 for Nizhalkkuthu and Bhavam and National Award for best editing in feature film category in 2007 for Nalu Pennungal. Edited about 30 feature films in Malayalam and two in Hindi. Many of the films like Mazha, Sayanam, Nizhalkkuthu, Bhavam, Sancharam and short films like Agni, Encounter with a Life Living, Atman, Repentance, Voices, Of Confucius… Nalu Pennungal etc. Has edited about 35 video documentaries on various issues all over India. Edited TV commercials, music videos etc. Conducted workshops on editing for various training institutions in Kerala and also at FTII Pune. Directed a few documentaries for C-dit. Now working on “Thalamayam Oru Penkutti” directed by T. K. Rajeevkumar.

4. SMT. SWAROOPA KARTHA
Creative Head, Jellita Advertising
Swaroopa Kartha has been in advertising for the past fifteen years. Post Graduate in English (MA), and Communication & Journalism (MCJ)with specialisation in Advertorial, both from the Kerala 
University. Stared career as a journalist with the SUNDAY Weekly of the Anand Bazar Group of Newspapers, Kolkatta. Switched over to advertising in 1995. Started as a copy writer in CHRYSALLIS. Moved to ARIES as media executive cum copy writer. Took over as the Creative Head of BREAKTHROUGH. Was Creative Director, CMM. Presently working with JELITTA as Creative Head. Clientele include Taj Group, Leela Hotels, , Sooryasamudra, Sarathi Motors, Deedi Bajaj, Shalimar Spice Garden, Skyline Builders, Veejay Properties, Kerala Kaumudi, Urban Tribes, UTI, SBT, BSNL, SBI, Asianet, Madhyamam, Tata Tea, Colgate, Ashley Aluminium,V-Guard, KSIDC, KFC, Kinfra and Kerala Tourism.

5. SRI. SANKARAN NAMPOOTHIRI
( Advertising and Web technology Architect and Consultant) Chennai
Worked with Dattaram Avertising, Bangalore, then the oldest Indian Ad Agency ( worked on campaigns for Jindal Aluminium, NP Chewing Gum etc.). Established Password, India’s first Graphic Art facility. He is the first to import Apple Macintosh, Pagemaker, Word, Cricket Draw and a host of the graphic software we now use regularly. In the mid eighties, he ran branding, corporate identity, design and print consultancy services for several ad agencies. He also did work for several corporate clients including SPIC, Rane Motors, Indbank, SRF Finance, Bharat Overseas Bank, Cholamandalam Investments, Kalakshetra, Brilliant Tutorials and First Computers. He was associated with the launch of products and services for some of these clients. Set up the Graphic Arts Department for Stanford University Press, Singapore. Set up Century Advertising and served as its Director for several years until he moved on to become an entrepreneur in the IT enables services. He continues to be involved in strategic web presence consultancy for several national and international brands to date. His passion for technology has led him to some innovations, including his own patented IP, for some ‘soon to be launched’ services in the cross-media advertising scenario, combining the powers of synergy of the web, mobile phones, speech synthesis and search engine semantics. He is also the Founder Trustee of the College for Leadership and Human Resources at Mangalore, besides being a Founder Trustee of the Guruvayurappan Institute of Management, Coimbatore. He has conducted several seminars and workshops on a range of topics including Advertising, Design, Data Security, Cyber Crime and topics from Indian Culture and Tradition. He is also a passionate blogger.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This National Conference cum Workshop is targeted primarily at the students, professionals and Applied Artists aspiring to be creative professionals in the Advertising Industry. 

ACCOMMODATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
For Ladies: Accommodation if required can be provided ( on request ) on shared basis in the Girls Hostel in our campus from 15th evening upto 17th evening. Mess facility will be available on payment.
For Gents: Accommodation if required can be provided ( on request ) on shared basis with a nominal fee at the Guest House of Amrita University Healthcare Campus ( AIMS Hospital ), which is about 1 Km away from our campus. Pick up and drop back will be arranged free of cost to and from the venue to the Guest House. The accommodation will be from 16th evening to 17th evening. Paid Mess facilities are available.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
1. Mobile phones are strictly banned for students in this campus. Keeping with this strict rule, the Lady student participants using the above accommodation facility in our campus will not be allowed to use mobile phones inside the hostel / campus. Male students also will not be allowed to use the mobile phones in our campus. Therefore they must hand over their mobile phones to the college office authorities, and collect them back at the time of departure. In any case they won’t be able to use it inside the hostel / campus. 
2. Participants staying in this campus are expected to follow strict and modest behavior and decorum to maintain the serenity and sanctity of the campus atmosphere in which our Ashram and Temple are located.
